Ana

I am a young Spanish 23 years old girl. I will graduate this year in a master of Clinical Biomedical Sciences at the K.U.L. I have experience in volunteer work in different countries (Spain, Portugal, Romania and Ukraine) It has taught me that it is out of my “comfort zone” where I will find REAL HAPPINESS. The use of my talents to teach something to others and bring them joy is work with real “transformative power” to me, and a smile and a thanks are surely the best reward.

Inna

I am a Russian Master student in Social and Cultural Anthropology from KU Leuven. As an anthropologist I find it important to bring together people of different ages, beliefs, and backgrounds this is why I joined the leuvenet team.

I am half Belgian and half zimbabwean. I am a communications major at the Katholic University of Leuven. I have chosen to join LeuveNet for a multitude of reason. Firstly, I believe that this project can diminish isolation amongst the Belgian older population.   Secondly, this project can be beneficial for the younger participants. By going to the older people they can learn soft skills that can increase their chances on the job market.

Laura

I am 22 years old and live in Retie, Antwerp. I study rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy, this is my fifth and also my last year. During my internships, I come into contact with different people: older and young people from different contexts. This is the reason why I join LeuveNet - in my opinion, old and young people can have social contact in a nice and educational way

Zeynep

I am 21 years old. I am from Turkey. I came to KU Leuven as an Erasmus exchange student. I will graduate this year with my bachelor in Law at Bilkent University, Ankara.  I have participated in volunteer work previously. In fact one of my projects was very similar to the main exercise of LeuveNet. I am in LeuveNet because I like to learn new skills and meet new people. Moreover I especially like LeuveNet because it not only provides a sphere where people can exchange skills but also reduces isolation between the young and the elderly. As a young woman, I consider myself very lucky to be given such an incredible opportunity to learn from the seniors’ experiences. I am very happy to be a part of this project.

I’m 20 years old and I’m from Limburg, Belgium. I’m studying to be a social worker. I chose this because I love helping people, this is also the reason why I chose to participate in this program. Also, I think bringing elderly and young people together to fight loneliness is a beautiful concept that is very current.

Shivangi

I am doing Bachelors of Engineering Technology at KU Leuven. I am originally from New Delhi, India. The reason why I joined Leuvenet is because it allows interaction between two generations that have unfortunately been growing distant over time because of their differences. Volunteering at LeuveNet has been a great learning experience for me especially because of its reciprocity.
